Operators of record

Every operator’s wells, the majors included.

The largest operators by active wells across the map. Open one to see where it works.

Active wells as reported by each state and province; wells of record include plugged wells. Strata9 is not affiliated with the companies shown.

Interests beneath the ground trade constantly, and almost none of it is visible. Deals move through private lists and platforms priced for institutions. Strata9 puts the inventory on one map that anyone can open, with the state's own record attached to every well on it.

Listings come from brokers, and every one is reviewed before it goes public.

How it works

A marketplace built on the public record.

If you own minerals

Your wells are already on the map.

  1. /01
Find your wellEvery well of record in the states and provinces we cover is already drawn. Search by county, operator, lease or API number.
  2. /02
See what it producesProduction as the state reports it, month by month. Producing wells carry a Strata9 Estimate per one percent of net revenue interest, recalculated for your own decimal.
  3. /03
Keep an eye on itCreate a free account and save the well to your watchlist, then see what changes around it, from new permits nearby to production moving up or down.
  4. /04
Sell through a brokerWhen you are ready, choose a broker who works your county. They price and package the interest and place the listing.
Owners do not list directly. A broker represents the interest and places the listing.
If you are buying

The archive

Every well ever drilled. Not only the ones still running.

c. 1901

Strata9 carries the record of what was drilled, where, by whom, and what it found: the wells producing today and the millions that stopped decades ago. Every state and province we cover, and the wider world as we reach it, on one map.

/01

“Is there oil on my land?”

It is the first question every owner asks, and the record usually already answers it. A well drilled on that section in 1948. A dry hole two miles north. A lease that produced for thirty years and was plugged in 1971. All of it is on the map, and none of it requires an account to look at.

/02

A dry hole in 1952 is not a dry hole today.

What could be reached then and what can be reached now are different questions. Wells abandoned before directional drilling, before modern completions, before anyone could produce from tight rock, sit under acreage being re-evaluated right now. A record of failure is also a record of where the oil was.

/03

One library, not fifty.

Every state and province keeps its own record, in its own format, under its own numbering. Strata9 reconciles them: one identifier per well, one map, one place to look. The archive grows as we do, and nothing already in it goes away.

Records are shown as the state filed them. Each producing and archived well carries its very own unique S9 ID, the subject of a pending patent application.

01

Listed by brokers, not by strangers.

Every listing is placed by a named broker or A&D firm from their own console and reviewed by Strata9 before it goes live, so the person behind it is known.

02

The record travels with the listing.

Reported production, permits nearby, pipelines, disposal capacity and depth are already attached. The broker adds what the state does not carry: private volumes, terms, the asking price.

03

Wells, acreage and water.

Producing interests, undrilled acreage, leasehold packages and disposal capacity, all on the same map and all searched the same way.

04

No commission, ever.

Publishing a package from the console costs nothing. Feature it for $499 if you want the top of the county. Strata9 never takes a piece of the sale.

Strata9 is a listing venue, not a broker and not a party to any deal. Diligence, negotiation, title and closing happen between the parties and their own people, off the platform.

BUYERS

Hear about new listings first.

Tell us the counties and the kind of interest you are looking for. When a matching listing goes live, we let you know.

Free, with no obligation to buy.

OWNERS

Own an interest? A broker brings it to market.

Strata9 does not buy or sell. Listings are placed by brokers, and a broker who works your county can price your interest and list it here.

Every well of record on one map: surface and bottom-hole locations, laterals drawn to scale, permits refreshed nightly, and the full record behind any pin. Owners find what they own; brokers list it where buyers are already looking.

/0.2
Well dataEight layers, one place.+

The record is scattered across slow viewers built for an office. Strata9 pulls it into one fast map.

01

Wells and wellbores

Surface and bottom-hole locations, laterals to scale, and status: producing, shut in, plugged, permitted, dry. Tap any well for operator, lease, well number, field, depth and dates.

02

Legal description

The legal description that ties a well to the tract a lease covers, in whatever form the state uses.

03

Permits

Drilling permits nightly, pending permits twice a day. The only layer that shows what is about to happen.

04

Geothermal heat flow

Temperature gradient and heat flow, interpolated from tens of thousands of measured wells. The control points stay inspectable, not hidden under a color wash.

05

Production

Reported oil and gas volumes for every producing lease, month by month, so you can see what a property makes and whether it is climbing or declining. The Strata9 Estimate is computed from this, not from a county average.

06

Pipelines

Every permitted pipeline, drawn at real diameter and colored by what it carries. Tap a line and its whole system lights up, named, with operator and length.

07

Injection and disposal

Every saltwater disposal and injection well, with permitted volume, injection history, utilization, interval and pressure. Colored by how full they are, so you can see where there is room to send water.

08

Seismic response areas

Texas and Oklahoma both restrict injection where it has been linked to earthquakes, and those limits now decide where produced water can go. Drawn as the state publishes them, with areas under formal response separated from those under investigation.

Every producing well brings up saltwater, and all of it has to go back underground. Strata9 Hydro maps that infrastructure the way it maps wells: where disposal capacity sits, how full each well is, and where it is at capacity, live from state and county injection records.

Strata9 HydroWater+
CAPACITY

Real-time capacity and operating metrics

Every saltwater disposal and injection well — including permitted volumes, injection history, utilization rates, intervals, and pressure — visualized by current saturation levels. This transforms raw state records into an interactive, color-coded operational map that instantly highlights where injection capacity remains available across the basin.

LIMITS

Where it cannot go

Texas and Oklahoma both restrict injection where it has been linked to earthquakes, and those limits now decide where produced water can go. Drawn as the state publishes them.

Pipelines are how commodities move. Strata9 maps the whole permitted network beneath the oil and gas map, so you can read production against the infrastructure that carries it.

/0.4
PipelinesEvery pipeline beneath the map, and where it goes.+
01

Tap one line, see the whole network

Tap any line and that system alone lights up and flows while the rest falls back, so you can follow a gathering network out to the trunk it feeds. The card names operator, product, diameter and counties crossed.

02

Why a well flows, or doesn't

Takeaway decides whether a well produces, gets curtailed or sits shut in. Which lines run past a tract, what they carry and how big they are puts a number on something that usually lives in somebody's head.

03

Abandoned pipe, shown as abandoned

Operators must keep mapping lines abandoned in place, and there are tens of thousands of them. Drawn greyed and still, never as live pipe, so you can see what is actually under a tract.

04

You can see how precisely it was located

Positions are operator-reported, and only about a quarter of the Texas network is located within fifty feet. A surveyed line draws crisp, a vague one faint, and the card states the accuracy in feet.
